Makram Barsoum

OTS (MTS 1988)

Makram was born in El-Minia, Egypt, and emigrated to Canada in 1974.As an engineer, he worked in the Canadian nuclear and aerospace industries, concentrating his efforts on the Canadarm and Space Station Freedom.

Eight years after he graduated from OTS, he and his wife were appointed jointly by the mission organization InterServe and the Presbyterian Church in Canada to serve in the Middle East with SAT-7 Media Service, a multiple-partner project providing Christian satellite television service in the Arabic language to people in the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.

While Makram began his work with SAT-7 in Nicosia, Cyprus, he has guided the establishment of SAT-7's audience and church relations department in Lebanon, Egypt, and France, becoming the Director of Program Acquisitions & Scheduling. His prayer is that through his work, millions of people in the Middle East will experience the transforming power of the Christian gospel.
