Barbara, who is from California, studied at the International Christian University, Mitika, Japan; Colorado State College; and the University of Colorado, specializing in social sciences, international relation, and political science.

 She completed her theological training at OTS in the early 1990s while working with the Navigators, an organization she has been a part of for more than 35 years, both in Canada and the United States.

She served as national women’s coordinator for The Navigators of Canada, and she also served on the board for Women Alive of Canada, a large outreach conference ministry.

Barb was hired as the VP Student Development at Tyndale in 1998. She served in that role from then until 2011, when she began her tenure as the Director of the Spiritual Formation Centre until 2018.

For a period of time she provided spiritual direction in her home congregation, Cornerstone Church in Kleinburg.
