Lyndsay Thompson

Tyndale (MDiv 2018)

Lyndsay Thompson came to Tyndale with a bachelor’s degree in international development from another university, as well as diplomas in culinary management and teaching English as a second language. But none of these fields seemed a good fit for her long-term career.

When she graduated with her Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling, she spoke as the graduating class valedictorian. The topic of mental health is something she is passionate about, having a keen understanding from her own struggles with bipolar disorder.

Learning to balance her studies alongside work, sports and life in general, she found Tyndale’s flexible study options, as well as supportive and professional environment, suited her well.

“We are broken, but we are saved by grace,” she said. “We are able to look at somebody in the field of counselling ... and know they’re a child of God. I can bless them because of what I’ve learned professionally and theologically here.”

Lyndsay is now a Registered Psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. She is working on her DMin in Spiritual Formation and is currently teaching at Tyndale in both the Clinical Counselling and Thanatology programs.
