David K. Mensah
OBC (BRE 1982)
David was born in Ghana and immigrated to Canada in 1979 to attend OTS.
After further studies, he and his family returned to Ghana to direct the Northern Empowerment Association (NEA), which he founded before he came to Canada. In 1996, NEA was named by the Government of Ghana as the best development organization in Northern Ghana.
He was chosen by the Government of Canada, through its Canadian High Commission in Ghana, to design a program which brought reconciliation between two warring tribes. He coordinated the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, which has established schools, clinics, women's projects, and environmental projects in many communities.
With help from supporters, he and his wife raised over $14 million to build their dream hospital in Northern Ghana among marginalized communities in Northern Ghana in 2022. It has already treated 25,000 Ghanaians.
Since 1990, he also planted more than 50 churches in unreached communities in Ghana.
