Silas Fox

TBC (1916)

After graduation from TBC and two days after his wedding, Silas and his bride sailed for India without the benefits or support of any church board or society.

After serving with the Ceylon & India General Mission, he struck out on his own as an  itinerant evangelist and Bible teacher across the Telugu-speaking part of India, fulfilling the TBC motto: “Holding for the Word of Life.”

At a time when missionary literature was still in its infancy, Silas edited a newspaper, The Christian Hope, distributing it and other gospel literature far and wide. He produced gospel recordings of him speaking and singing.

His evangelistic and church-planting ministry is part of this century’s missionary annals of India. It is to the glory of God, that through Silas’s work, when India became independent, the young church that he had established was able to stand without foreign aid.
