Anne Woolger is the founding director of Matthew House, a city-run shelter for refugees in Toronto. Since opening as a permanent home in August 1998, Matthew House has provided shelter and assistance for around 4,000 refugees from more than 40 countries.

Besides her Master of Theological Studies degree from OTS, she also holds a certificate in International Human Rights Law from the International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France.

Anne has represented the Canadian Council of Churches at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) meetings in Geneva and at other human rights consultations. Her desire is to encourage and inspire Canadians to overcome their fears, and reach out and welcome the refugees arriving on our doorstep.

She has served on various national refugee boards including the Canadian Baptist Ministries and the Canadian Council of Churches National Refugee Committees.

In 2013, she was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition for of her work with refugees in Canada.
