Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates of Tyndale University College whose loved ones gathered alongside faculty and staff to celebrate on May 25, 2019.
This year’s valedictorian, Angela Farrington-Thompson [BA 2019], gave a heartfelt message to her fellow graduates filled with wisdom and encouragement to move forward in their journey with God in the world. “Challenged academically, personally and spiritually, we leave Tyndale not simply having been taught, but having been grown… We have been poured into that we might pour out the riches we have been given into others,” she said in her speech.
The Dr. Ian Gentiles Collegiality Award was presented to Carla Nelson, PhD, Founding Director of the Bachelor of Education Program and Associate Professor. She is also completing her tenure at Tyndale and was honoured at this year’s Bachelor of Education graduation program.
Dr. Rupen Das, National Director of the Canadian Bible Society and Research Professor at Tyndale University College & Seminary, gave the convocation address. He spoke on the theme Being Compassionate People in a Challenging World. “In a world that is deeply cynical and disillusioned… what people are looking for is a reality that gives them meaning... God is calling you to be counter-cultural and to show there is another way to live, to demonstrate through your actions and speech that the kingdom of God is real,” he noted.
