On May 25, 2019, the 10th graduating class from the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program of Tyndale University College celebrated alongside family, friends, faculty and staff. On this special day, a number of BEd alumni representing each of the past 10 years attended to celebrate this milestone. “Tyndale’s reputation… for teacher formation has grown. We are rightfully proud of what they have accomplished in these 10 years,” shared Dr. Gary Nelson, President of Tyndale University College & Seminary in his welcome address.
An opportunity was taken during the ceremonies to bid farewell to Founding Director, Carla Nelson, PhD and Associate Founding Director, Prof. Rick Cunningham. In their honour, Senior Vice President Academic and Dean of Tyndale University College, Dr. Barry Smith announced the new Bachelor of Education Founder’s Award. This award is to be bestowed yearly beginning in February 2020 to a student entering the BEd Program.
Cohort Graduating Speaker, Elizabeth Da Silva [BEd 2019] recounted the hard work and dedication of her fellow teacher-candidates in her speech. “Teachers should teach, not just from the book, but from the heart. The time spend at Tyndale reflects that,” she noted.
