Overview
This certificate will facilitate your understanding of the grief process, giving you resources and developing tech quests that will enable a positive approach to engaging with those in the grieving process.
You will focus on developing an in depth understanding of biblical and spiritual truths when encountering loss and death. You will develop skills that will help you recognize and respond to the needs of others as you walk with them. Upon completion of 6 modules, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
Facilitators
Dr. David Sherbino, MPS, STM, D.Min, CSDS, FT.
David is a professor of Pastoral Ministries and Spiritual Formation at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. He is the minister at Cornerstone Church (PCC) Kleinberg. Professionally he is a Certified Thanatologist Pastoral Specialist.
Dr. Rob Patterson, M.Div., MRE., D.Min.
Rob is the Lead pastor at Scott Street MB church, in St.Catharines, ON. He has enjoyed teaching at Tyndale, McMaster University, Acadia University, and Carey Theological school in Vancouver. Previously he served in Kenya, East Africa as a lecturer with Carey Theological College and Regent College. During his years as a chaplain at Spring Hills Penitentiary he began his focus in the areas of loss, grief and death. He is fluent in Swa-hili having immersed himself into the African culture. He has a passion for teaching and equipping those who support others through their journey of grief.
Rev. Dr. Tim Perry
Rev. Dr. Tim Perry has served the church in parish and academic positions since 1999. He is canonically resident in the Diocese of Algoma (Anglican Church of Canada) and lead pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Steinbach, MB.
Dr. Keith Taylor, B.Th., M.Div., D.Min.
Formerly Keith was a Chaplain Palliative Care, Southlake Regional Health Centre. He also worked as a Trauma Clinician, Trauma Management Group, Ottawa and was a Trainer for the Toronto North Command Firefighters for Critical Stress Incidents. Previously he was also the Director, Genesis Bereavement Resource Centre in Newmarket.
Keith retired following over 30 years of pastoral ministry at the Newmarket Church of the Nazarene. Keith teaches multiple thanatology courses at Tyndale Seminary focusing on disenfranchised grief and complicated grief. He is a Member of the Association for Death Education and Counselling. Keith is a grief educator and seminar speaker. Founder/Director: Handle with Care. Bereavement Counselling Services and author of, Well-Intentioned People Say Dumb Things: Practical advice for comforting those who are grieving.
Lyndsay Thompson, M.Div., RP.
Lyndsay is an instructor at Tyndale Seminary in the Clinical Counselling and Thanatology programs. She is also a registered psychotherapist and who works primarily with kids and families and individual adults. She is working on a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation with a focus on the use of imagination, story and somatic experiencing for spiritual growth.
Learning Format
The modules in this Certificate will be delivered online. The platform for the live streaming will be Zoom.

Refund Policy: Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of event date, will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 3-6 days before the event, we will offer you a credit for future TSFC events. Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the event may not receive a refund nor a transfer. If TSFC cancels an event under circumstances that would make the event non-viable, registrants will be offered a full refund. When you register for an event, you agree to these terms.
