This module will explore the impact of death and loss upon the family system. You will explore death and the family life cycle, looking at how families react to loss. A special emphasis will focus on how children understand death and express their grief.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the systemic perspective of the family and how the impact of death can affect individuals and the system as a whole
  • Describe the different ways families respond to death and loss          
  • Integrate the systemic understanding of death and loss in helping children grieve
  • Apply the knowledge of grief and the family into the context of church ministry and community

Lyndsay Thompson, M.Div., RP.

Facilitator

Lyndsay is an instructor at Tyndale Seminary in the Clinical Counselling and Thanatology programs. She is also a registered psychotherapist and who works primarily with kids and families and individual adults. She is working on a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation with a focus on the use of imagination, story and somatic experiencing for spiritual growth.
