Spring Convocation Details

RSVP

Please go to flow.tyndale.ca to confirm your attendance for the Convocation. Log in using your MyTyndale username and password.

Some Convocations will require tickets and this information is given to the graduands by email  from the Office of the Registrar. Please submit your RSVP as soon as possible to secure your tickets and help us plan the event. If you are not attending the ceremony, please also indicate it through the link above so we can send you information on how to receive your diploma after the convocation ceremony.

Tickets

Tyndale convocations are held in the Tyndale Chapel which has a capacity of 500 guests. This means that some convocations are ticketed. This is how tickets are distributed:

  • The number of graduands registered to attend the ceremony will determine the ticket numbers. Once calculated (usually between 3 to 6 tickets per graduand; graduand does not need a ticket), ticket information will be released by the Office of the Registrar by email.
  • Graduands will have an opportunity to register to claim the allotted number of tickets.
  • After the registration deadline, the remaining tickets will be distributed. This information is sent to graduands by email.

The tickets (QR code) are distributed to the graduands via Flow Form. Once registered for tickets, graduands can obtain the QR code from the portal and distribute it to their guests. There is one unique QR code per graduand, which means one QR code can be used to check-in the guests of each graduand.

If the ceremony you are attending is not ticketed, anyone is welcome to attend the ceremony. In order to manage the Tyndale Chapel capacity, we do ask the graduating student to inform us if they have a large number of guests.

Academic Regalia:

Gowns and Hoods

Graduands of degree programs are required to wear the academic regalia provided by Tyndale. Graduands of diploma and certificate courses do not require or wear academic hoods.

On the day of the Convocation, graduands will receive a rental gown in a designated area.

Graduands of degree programs receive their academic hood during the conferral, according to the degree being conferred.

Academic gowns and hoods are to be returned within an hour of the Convocation ceremony. Graduands can take photos in their regalia, but please return the gown and the hood.

Stoles

While stoles are sometimes worn as an expression of one’s culture or heritage, they are not part of the University’s approved academic regalia and may not be worn during the convocation ceremony. They may, however, be worn under your gown and hood during the ceremony, and after the ceremony has concluded be made visible outside the Chapel while celebrating with your friends and family.

Indigenous Graduands & Regalia

In this context, Indigenous peoples include the First Nations, Inuk (Inuit), and Métis peoples of Canada.

Tyndale normally requires all graduands to wear an academic gown and hood when crossing the stage at graduation.

However, if an Indigenous graduand wishes to wear their traditional Indigenous regalia in place of the academic gown, they are very welcome to do so.

In any event, the academic hood – the colour and style of which corresponds to the academic degree earned— must be worn. The hood is the recognition of the graduating student’s academic success and a critical part of the academic tradition. It signifies admission into a community of scholars, and as such must be worn with one’s traditional Indigenous regalia or academic regalia.
