Graduation
Graduation is a momentous occasion that students and the Tyndale community look forward to every year. It is at this time that the hard work of our deserving students is recognized and celebrated.
Tyndale University has two graduations annually: a Fall Paper Graduation and a Spring Graduation. The Convocation Ceremony, which celebrates both Fall and Spring graduands, takes place in May.

Immediately following the Convocation Ceremony, a social gathering of all guests and graduates will take place in a designated area.
Parking is free but limited on site. There are several parking lots around the building and you can park wherever parking is available.
Graduating students who require accommodation must contact the Office of the Registrar registration@tyndale.ca. Guests requiring accommodation can contact convocation@tyndale.ca.
Graduands do not need tickets to attend the convocation.
Children who do not require seats do not require tickets. This usually means children under 2 years old who can be held or seated in lap. Alternatively, families with children can use the overflow room which will livestream the convocation.
Tyndale convocations are held in the Tyndale Chapel which has a capacity of 500 guests. This means that some convocations are ticketed. This is how tickets are distributed:
- The number of graduands registered to attend the ceremony will determine the ticket numbers. Once calculated (usually between 3 to 6 tickets per graduand; graduand does not need a ticket), ticket information will be released by the Office of the Registrar by email.
- Graduands will have an opportunity to register to claim the allotted number of tickets.
- After the registration deadline, the remaining tickets will be distributed. This information is sent to graduands by email.
If your convocation is not ticketed, the Registrar’s Office will give a guideline as to how many guests are recommended per graduand, in order to comply with the space capacity.
There is no specific dress code for the Convocation ceremony but here are some things to think about to prepare for your convocation:
- For the duration of the ceremony, you will be required to wear a black academic gown. Doctoral gowns (Doctor of Ministry) are heavier and thicker so please dress accordingly to avoid overheating.
- There are some steps from the stage to your seat after the conferral.
- If possible, please leave your personal items (purses, coats, cameras) with your guests.
Graduands receive their diploma parchment during the conferral on the day of the Convocation.
Usually, there is an event photographer but the photographer does not take photos of each graduate. We encourage your guests to take photos during and after the ceremony.
Please contact the Office of the Registrar to arrange an alternate way to receive your diploma parchment.
