Tyndale welcomes Cyril Guérette to the faculty as assistant professor at the university college. His lectures will intersect with those for the Biblical Studies & Theology, Philosophy, and Christian Ministries departments.
Prior to coming to Tyndale, Dr. Guérette served for 15 years at Heritage College and Seminary in Cambridge, Ontario. He completed his Master of Philosophy in Theology at the University of Cambridge in England, and earned his PhD in Theology from the University of Toronto. Dr. Guérette is a published author, musician and sought-after speaker for conferences, retreats and churches. He has been a guest on various faith-based and mainstream media outlets.
Alongside his teaching career, Dr. Guérette is an active full-time pastor. “It’s a natural balance to me. What I love about academia is being on the front line of theological thought, engaging in new thinkers and current issues. What I love about the ministry side is interfacing with real people in the real world and helping to bridge that gap by bringing the latest theological reflections into their sphere of life.”
In his role at Tyndale, he hopes to impart to students a passion for Christ and for the Word of God in all its authority and application to their lives. “I hope they can explore their areas of interest and how those connect to God. I want to help them see that their gifts and their passion are ultimately fulfilled in Christ,” he shares.
“I truly believe Tyndale is uniquely placed not just in Canada but also in the world to be a centre for excellence in theological thought on a global scale. Here in Toronto, in all its diversity, the world’s coming here. We have a unique opportunity to be able to form theological and Christian character that’s shaped by God and ready for what the future is going to look like.”
