David Ivany

David Ivany has been a Salvation Army officer primarily involved in pastoral ministry for over forty years, working in English and French Canada. He enjoys jazz, cycling, crosswords, chicken shawarma, singing in a choir, and making people smile. He especially enjoys hanging out with his four unique, passionate grown kids, and their families, (7 grandsons, one granddaughter) and his wife Beverly. Having completed his MTS and Diploma in Spiritual Formation at Tyndale, he recently retired as Spiritual Director (a position he founded) within a Pastoral Services team, where he served for ten years, introducing Spiritual Direction to Salvation Army Clergy in Canada and Bermuda. His passion is people and vision, and he longs to see all come alive to their purpose, potential and personhood in Christ, finding a safe place to share their story. He is also convinced that contemplation and service are not mutually exclusive. To that end, he is committed to nurturing a deeper spirituality which leads to inner freedom and loving service.
