Tyndale University is committed to creating an environment where students with disabilities are able to participate and integrate into its community. Residence offers a unique opportunity for students with disabilities to foster an independent quality of life while experiencing the unique Tyndale culture. Accommodations requests can be submitted for permanent or temporary disabilities such as, but not limited to:
- physical impacts,
- mental health and cognitive impacts,
- acquired brain injury,
- visual impairment, and
- service and emotional support animals.
If you have medical or accessibility needs that may impact your success at Tyndale and/or in the residence, please contact Accessibility Services at accessibilityservice [at] tyndale [dot] ca or 416-226-6620 ext. 2189. Students must register with the Accessibility Services immediately after submitting a residence application to access individualized accommodations. You do not have to wait for your residence acceptance letter for you to start this process.
The final deadline to request residence accommodations is June 30 (Fall residence) or November 1 (Winter residence). Students who apply for residence after these dates will still need to register with Accessibility Services if accommodations are requested, however Tyndale cannot guarantee that needed accommodations will be ready by Move-In Day.
Students who require accessibility accommodation but do not register with Accessibility Services will not be guaranteed accommodation in residence. Please visit the Accessibility Services website for more information on the accommodations process and the types of disabilities served.
While Accessibility Services will not release specific information about a student’s disability, they will verify that the appropriate disability documentation is one file and communicate with the faculty/staff only information pertaining to required accommodations. Students who apply for residence accommodations will be asked to provide consent for the Accessibility Specialist to share, as needed, more specific detailed information regarding their disability with Tyndale University personnel who have legitimate need to know in order to provide appropriate accommodations and/or services.
