Zakar

In the New Testament, Paul admonishes the believers in Corinth to remember who they were before they came to the cross (1 Corinthians 1:26-30). " 'Remember' calls people back to their first calling in Christ," Emily, the 2011 Seminary Student Council President notes. The Council hopes that the theme will, "Draw seminary students into a deeper understanding of God's love and faithfulness."

Emily Fish, a third year Clinical Counselling student, describes the theme as an opportunity to call students to, “Cultivate their passion and find a balance between the heart and the mind”. ‘Zakar’, which is Hebrew for ‘Remember’, alludes to the many times God reminds His people to call to mind all He has done for them.

The Council will be hosting weekly prayer meetings for students and faculty to intercede for missionaries, Tyndale, our nation and our Churches. Prayer Coordinator Bobby Wong desires that students will experience prayer as an opportunity to, “Slow down and remember who God is in our lives”.

Questions, feedback and ideas are welcome, as the council encourages student interaction. The 7 council members, all seminary students, are dynamic and approachable. Johnny Cheung, the Communications Administrator, loves the community atmosphere of Tyndale and welcomes students to, “Come say ‘hi’”; Emily Fish has gone skydiving, whitewater rafting on the Nile and encourages students to hang out in the Sem Lounge. After spending time in the lounge, students may notice the “Remember” coffee mugs and water bottles many already enjoy. To buy one, contact a student council member.
