Tyndale University invites candidates to apply for a full-time, tenure track faculty position at the seminary.

Position Description

The selected candidate will be part of a department offering a full range of clinical counselling courses recognized by the CRPO that integrate rigorous theoretical understanding with applied psychotherapy methods and skills. The counselling program, one of the largest programs in the seminary, prepares students for professional clinical practice in counselling and psychotherapy. The integration of spirituality and practice is a program distinctive. The incumbent will teach foundational courses in Counselling Theories and Methods, Gender and Socioeconomic Perspectives, Cross-Cultural Perspectives, Professional Ethics, as well as courses in one’s area of specialization. This position is expected to start on July 1, 2025.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teaching, scholarship, and service comprise the three-fold responsibilities of all faculty members
  • Teach a full load of courses (six per academic year)
  • Participate in counselling department and general seminary faculty meetings and committee work as assigned
  • Engage in advising students and the supervision of student research projects (either in the MDiv or MA tracks)
  • Pursue research and scholarship in their areas of interest

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ideal candidate should have undergraduate degree in Psychology, master’s degree in counselling, doctoral degree (or in progress) in counselling or a related field
  • Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO (or equivalent)
  • Degree or some courses in Bible, Theology; competencies in Integration of Psychology and Theology (preferred)

Experience:

  • Clinical experience as a Registered Psychotherapist
  • Proven experience in supervising student research projects
  • Teaching experience for students at the post-secondary level
  • Engaged in academic research projects 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Possesses strong clinical skills
  • Demonstrates competency in teaching (with proven background experience)
  • Able to communicate clearly
  • Able to collaborate and work as a team
  • Integrates clinical practice with theology and faith

Salary Range: $65,000 - $77,000, commensurate with experience.
