Clint Mix, a dedicated student and sessional instructor at Tyndale University, will be the first to graduate from the Post-Doctor of Ministry certification program in May 2024.
Clint’s journey at Tyndale began in 2010, when he enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program, where he focused on leadership and graduated in 2013. When asked about being the first graduate of the Post-DMin in Leadership, Clint expressed his enthusiasm for lifelong learning, saying, “I’m not taking it to get a certificate. I’m taking it for ongoing learning development.”
Aside from his academic pursuits, Clint also holds a position as the Director of Leader and Church Development in the Western District of The Alliance Canada. Additionally, he teaches various courses at Tyndale, including leadership development.
In discussing the impact of the Post-DMin program on his current positions, Clint explained, “It really helps give a higher competency and confidence in communication. At Tyndale, there are some top-end people in their own field that are coming in to teach. And I’ve found the interaction with the instructors incredibly helpful.” Clint’s aim is to improve his effectiveness in the classroom and online teaching environments, leveraging the program’s insights into clear communication strategies.
After graduating next year, Clint plans to continue his studies by enrolling in another Post-DMin certificate program. He encourages others to do the same, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning.
“The world is radically changing,” he said. “And if we’re going to be current and effective, we need to lean into this. I think the moment we stop learning, we’re regressing.”
The Post-DMin in Leadership program, which Clint is completing, spans three years. It consists of distance learning and residency phases, offering a flexible and manageable schedule for working professionals. Unlike the traditional DMin program, the certificate program does not require a thesis, providing students like Clint an opportunity to engage in coursework without the added pressure of writing a thesis.
