Camp Hermosa
About Camp Hermosa
Founded in 1929 by a small collective of Baptist churches in southwestern Ontario, Camp Hermosa has grown and evolved into a comfortable, rustic setting for campers of all ages (grade 3 – adulthood) to discover God and deepen their faith while making friendships that will last a lifetime. We offer a wide range of summer activities, including swimming lessons, nature hikes, sports, drama, worship and Bible study, campfire, crafts, and a variety of theme meals. Most days end with a quiet, contemplative worship service at Vesper Point, a clearing in the trees that overlooks Lake Huron, which boasts some of the world’s most beautiful sunsets.
The Board of Directors approved a major camp-wide renovation and restoration starting in 2009. Over the past decade, we have installed a new septic system and constructed two modern, accessible bathroom/shower buildings. Beginning in 2012 we began the process of replacing all camper cabins, which were completed in 2021.
Since the beginning, one of our core beliefs has been that everyone is welcome at Camp Hermosa. We do our best to make sure camper fees are affordable (most of the leadership at camp is volunteer, in order to keep costs low!) and offer full bursaries to any families for whom the costs are prohibitive.
