Areas of Specialization
Systematic theology (especially the doctrines of God, Christ and Scripture), historical theology (especially the fourth and fifth centuries) and Christian ethics (especially the theology of marriage and issues relating to the sanctity of human life).
Biography
Dr. Carter served as a pastor for seven years in Baptist churches in Prince Edward Island and Moncton, New Brunswick, and taught Philosophy and Religious Studies at Atlantic Baptist University (now Crandall University). From 1995 to 2000, he served as Vice President and Academic Dean at Atlantic Baptist University. From 2000 to 2004, he served as Vice President and Academic Dean at Tyndale University College and led the process of obtaining provincial permission to offer Bachelor of Arts degrees. Since 2004, he has been teaching full-time.
He has published a number of articles and reviews in various publications and is the author of four books, including the recently published: Interpreting Scripture with the Great Tradition: Recovering the Genius of Premodern Exegesis.
Dr. Carter is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and preaches and teaches regularly at his home church, Westney Heights Baptist Church, in Ajax, Ontario.
