A Special Homecoming for Tyndale Alumni
On September 30, 2017, Tyndale alumni returned to visit our campus for Homecoming. Nearly 200 people came together to reconnect, share memories and celebrate our Distinguished Alumni, 50-year and 25-year graduates, and more. This year, we honoured Stacey Campbell (MDiv 2013) and Zachary Edwards (BA 2014) with the Horizon Award; Rev. Colin McCartney (BRE 1987) with the Community Impact Award; Darlene McLean-Albrecht (MTS 1997) with the National Impact Award; and Dr. James Cunningham (BRE 1968) with the Global Impact Award. Ruth Thomson (BTh 1962) received the Lifetime Impact Award. Special guest speakers Paul Estabrooks (BTh 1966) and his daughter, Melinda Estabrooks (OBC), described how their individual experiences at Tyndale had shaped their lives. In addition to alumni from the classes of 1952 to 2017 reconnecting, the class of 1967 celebrated their Golden Mile (50 years since graduating) and the class of 1992 celebrated their Silver Mile (25 years since graduating).
A special dedication of two campus spaces also marked this occasion. One space is named The London College of Bible & Missions Collaboration Room in honour of the legacy of the LBI and LCBM alumni. The other is the Rev. E.L. Simmonds University College Academic Administration Suite in honour of a past Toronto Bible College principal. The Rev. Dr. Walter Winger (BTh 1960) shared his memories of Rev. Simmonds’ impactful teaching.
