Kicking-off the Christmas Season
On Saturday, December 1st, more than four hundred people attended Tyndale’s Annual Christmas in the Chapel. The audience consisted of local community members, students, faculty, alumni and chamber choir enthusiasts.
Dr. Gary Nelson, President and Vice Chancellor of Tyndale University College & Seminary welcomed all in attendance to the event. The Tyndale community was pleased to see that many of the Sisters of St. Joseph attended this performance. In his greeting, Dr. Nelson acknowledged that this will be the last Christmas in the Chapel that the Sisters of St. Joseph will attend while still being in residence at Morrow Park.
Held at the chapel on the Bayview campus, the Grammy- and June-nominated Elora Festival Singers delighted the audience with their production of Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. The charming opera about a lame shepherd boy engaged the audience of all ages. The second half of the event featured the holiday favourites with the audience joining in on “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”.
This fund-raising event, generously sponsored by La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, saw an increase in ticket sales of 39% from 2011.
Kevin Kirk, Senior Director, Development & Community Relations for Tyndale said, “This annual event is an inspirational way to kick off the Christmas season. We are thrilled with the support from the community. Many people expressed to me how much they enjoyed the Elora Festival Singers. It was truly a great afternoon.”
