Bible Translation, Teaching English and Restoring Trust
We’re right in the middle of Tyndale’s global mission season. By the end of the summer, a total of five teams will have travelled to four separate continents, each participating in a variety of efforts to shine the light of Jesus around the globe. Here is an update on what some of those teams have been up to.
Team Peru
From May 10 to May 27, 2014, Team Peru travelled to Arequipa, Peru to work in a camp environment teaching English to young people and sharing with them the love of Christ. Here is a video blog capturing their arrival at the English camp, as one team member enjoys an impromptu soccer game with kids. Check out the video here: http://youtu.be/rC04xZnwUI0

Team Alaska
Team Alaska was in Port Alsworth, Alaska, from May 25 to June 10, 2014. They served the First Nations youth at Tanalian Bible Camp. In that community, the name of Jesus has been equated with misuse and abuse in the past. Therefore, much of their work involved building and restoring friendships. Kids are especially benefiting from this ministry.
“It has been cold and rainy the past three days, but surprisingly we all sort of enjoy it,” says the team on their blog. “Yesterday we sat back and all watched a movie together. All of the kids here are so loving, they just jump on your lap and tell you about their day or ask you about yours.” [Read More]
Team Cameroon
Team Cameroon was in Africa from May 17 to June 12, 2014. They worked alongside the Wycliffe Bible Translators and literacy workers in schools and churches to help increase momentum and raise the profile for literacy and scripture translation in the community.
“We know God is at work in these lands long before the missionaries show up, but it is essential for the work of the Kingdom to advance that we be able to communicate with these people groups,” says James Brooks, Coordinator for Community and Global Engagement in an introduction to the team’s blog. “This work is invaluable.” [Read More]
