Biography
Blair Pike has recently retired from a thirty-year career in public education with York Region District School Board. During this time, Blair taught students from kindergarten through grade 12 and adult learners. Additionally, he provided school leadership as a teacher-librarian, technology lead teacher, and principal. Blair also engaged in system leadership as a member of the Tragic Events Response Team and Family of Schools Planning Committee among other things. He is the recipient of several provincial awards in public education most recent of which include the Ontario Principals' Council Difference Maker award and the Prologue for the Performing Arts, Arts Champion Award. In the spirit of life-long learning, Blair is currently completing his Master of Education degree at Ontario Tech University and is most interested in supporting the mental health and well-being of school leaders.
Blair and his wife, Lorraine, live north of the city on the shores of Lake Scugog where they can easily enjoy time in nature and the stillness that being in creation offers. His four treasured children continue to amaze and challenge him to grow and develop. Creativity energizes Blair, and he is most at ease expressing this creative energy at the piano, in the kitchen, or in the workshop where he upcycles and repurposes interesting trash into functional art.
