Event Location: Online - Zoom
Event Type: Tyndale Spiritual Formation Centre
Module Overview
In an increasingly fast paced world, Jesus' invitation to rest is desperately needed. Jesus’ invitation to living a restful life is countercultural to a society that idolizes efficiency, productivity and hustle culture. We were never intended to live busy and worn out lives. In our time together, we will explore a theology of rest that flows from our identity as the beloved of God. What possibilities exist if we operate at the pace of God’s grace instead of from burnout? What are the fruits of rest and what implications does this have for ourselves, our vocations and our ability to love others? This paradigm both challenges us and offers us some refreshing ways to consider rest as an essential way of life. Participants will be able to use these tools for their own soul care as well as to effectively minister to others under their care.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore a theological and Scriptural perspective of rest that challenges Western culture’s norms.
- Discover Pathways of Rest to determine the specific type of rest and corresponding spiritual disciplines that will revive your spirit, mind and body
- Learn how to craft a Sabbath that invites you to stop, rest, delight and worship God.
