Module 3: Spiritual Memoir- Our Graced History

Event Date(s): Sat, 2024/11/16 - 9:00am to 3:00pm
Event Location: Online - Zoom
Event Type: Tyndale Spiritual Formation Centre

Did you know that writing your God story is a biblically directed spiritual practice?

This is what the Lord God of Israel says; Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you. Jeremiah 30:2

This module invites participants to think about telling their story, to stop, reflect, and sift through ordinary life moments that became extraordinary. You will begin to record these divine touch points, documenting the places where the mystery of God's providence came alive and made a difference in your spiritual journey.

The focus will be on the frame of your memoir, you will uncover a central theme, choose your key characters, content, and voice. You will engage with a variety of guided writing prompts, plus learn creative ways to get started, how to jumpstart blocks, and tips to keep you writing.

Remember, we all have a unique story to tell.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Experience creative ways to recollect, reflect, and record your story.
  • Nurture your awareness of God's presence in your life through engagement with the practice of spiritual memoir, poetry, prose and journaling.
  •  Discover how each formative touch point in your story intertwines with God's greater narrative.
  •  Gain resources, exercises and tools to enrich the writing of your spiritual journey.
