Examination of the ways in which visual images, sculptural objects and architectural structures have been produced throughout history. Chronologically traces some of the major artistic developments that have influenced Western cultures from the Renaissance to the present and examines the ways in which these participate in the political, social, religious and economic climates of which they are an integral part.
