Tyndale Philosophy Professor Awarded Templeton Research Fellowship at Ryerson University
The Office of the University College Senior Vice President Academic & Dean is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Franks, Associate Professor of Philosophy, will be a Visiting Research Fellow at Ryerson University during the 2014-2015 academic year.
The Templeton Research Fellowship comes as part of a two-year research project led by Dr. Klaas Kraay, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Ryerson University, called “Theism: An Axiological Investigation,” which is funded by a generous grant from the John Templeton Foundation.
Dr. Franks becomes the second philosophy professor at Tyndale to be awarded the Templeton Research Fellowship, following Dr. Richard Davis, Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Tyndale University College, who was the 2013-2014 recipient.
“This is another great opportunity for Tyndale,” affirms Dr. Barry Smith, Senior VP Academic & Dean of Tyndale University College. “Not only will Dr. Franks' research project at Ryerson University build upon the research already started by Dr. Davis, but will continue to foster fruitful academic discussion in the philosophy of religion.”
“I would like to thank Tyndale University College for granting me the required teaching release,” says Dr. Franks. “My gratitude also goes out to Dr. Klaas Kraay at Ryerson University and the John Templeton Foundation for providing this exciting opportunity.”
